Biography

Ingrid Fichtner was born in Judenburg, Austria, in 1954, studied the English language at Vienna University (Master of Arts), lived in New Jersey, USA, for seven years and has been living in Zurich, Switzerland, now since 1985.
She has been publishing in Swiss, Austrian, German, and US literary magazines and in Swiss, Austrian, German anthologies since 1993.

Her books of poetry (Lichte Landschaft, Zürich 2012; Luftblaumesser, Frauenfeld 2004; Das Wahnsinnige am Binden Schuhe, Frauenfeld 2000; Farbtreiben, Hamburg 1999 a. o.) won her several awards and scholarships by the City of Zurich and by Pro Helvetia.

She has been working together with musicians and composers (a. o. Katharina Klement, Daniel Studer, Claudia Binder, and, in particular, Alfred Zimmerlin) and written two libretti (Ana Andromeda, Lucerne Festival 2012; Albrecht – Ein Königsmord in Habsburg, Königsfelden 2008).

Her poems in English were either written in English or translated by herself.
